Tax Assistant Manager - Aruba

About the role

EY is looking for a Tax Assistant Manager for its office in Aruba. The role contributes to the team's success by overseeing junior staff and client-serving associates, using EY methodologies and tools to deliver quality service. You will liaise with clients as directed, keep management informed of progress and help develop solutions to client challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with EY independence and client acceptance requirements for all engagements.
• Manage a portfolio of clients needing tax compliance services, including budgets, engagement direction and client needs.
• Help manage the compliance group by forecasting work, delegating tasks and resolving staffing issues.
• Keep close contact with clients and managers to manage expectations and ensure outstanding service.
• Work with tax professionals to provide comprehensive tax solutions and produce draft memoranda or opinions on tax matters.
• Review the book of business regularly to ensure timely billing and collection of accounts receivable.
• Assist in training and motivating junior staff and client-serving associates.
• Support marketing initiatives and seek ways to improve processes in the Tax Department.
• Report time spent on each engagement accurately and on time; consult management on advice or potential liability issues.

Required profile

• Master's degree in tax law or fiscal economics.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience, with exposure to tax compliance and/or advisory work.
• Strong working knowledge of current and emerging tax issues and tax laws.
• Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English.
• Experience guiding junior tax professionals through feedback and support.
• Willingness to work overtime during peak periods before filing deadlines.

Required skills

• Researching complex tax issues using statutes, case law and practice.
• Drafting and reviewing memoranda or opinions on complex tax matters.
• Analyzing financial statements for tax compliance and applying tax legislation and accounting standards.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
