Pool Engineer I - Marriott's Aruba Surf Club

About the role

Marriott's Aruba Surf Club in Aruba is looking for an Engineer I to handle guest repair requests and keep the property running smoothly. The role covers maintenance of tools, kitchen and mechanical room equipment, and basic repairs across several systems, while communicating daily with the other shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to and resolve guest repair requests and communicate with guests about maintenance issues
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication, and visually inspect tools, equipment and machines
• Identify, locate and operate shut-off valves and utility shut-offs, and maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts
• Communicate each day's activities and problems to the other shifts using approved communication programs
• Perform surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, and clean up after painting or repair work
• Test, troubleshoot and repair equipment, plumbing (plunge toilets, unclog drains), electrical components, lamps, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, and replace switches and outlets
• Program TVs, do general housekeeping and engineering-related inventory, and use the Lockout/Tagout system before maintenance
• Repair interior and exterior landscaping and sprinklers, and enter air handler schedules and make temperature changes on a computer
• Follow safety and security policies, complete safety training, store flammable materials safely, and treat guests courteously

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
• Some experience in general maintenance, exterior and interior surface preparation and painting
• Hotel engineering or maintenance experience is a plus
• No supervisory experience required
• Driver's license

Required skills

• Basic knowledge or ability to learn air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation and building basics
• Basic computer skills, including inputting air handler schedules
