Tax Senior - Aruba

About the role

EY is looking for a Tax Senior for its office in Aruba. The role contributes to the team's success by distributing work to Staff 1 and Staff 2 professionals and client-serving associates, applying EY methodologies and tools to meet client expectations and keeping management informed of work status.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure EY independence and client acceptance requirements are met for client engagements.
• Handle a portfolio of clients on tax compliance matters, including developing budgets, managing and monitoring engagements and responding to client needs; participate in managing a compliance group by forecasting work, delegating and resolving staffing issues.
• Produce draft memoranda or opinions on tax advisory matters and regularly review the book of business to keep billings on time and accounts receivable collected.
• Assist in training and motivating junior staff and in preparing and delivering marketing initiatives.
• Improve departmental processes and report time spent on each engagement accurately.
• Work under the guidance of a Tax Manager, who may assign work and review deliverables.

Required profile

• Master's degree in tax law or fiscal economics.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience, with exposure to tax compliance and/or advisory work.
• Working knowledge of current and emerging tax issues and of tax laws.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in Dutch and English.

Required skills

• Knowledge of tax compliance issues for Barbados and the OECS territories.
• Able to research complex tax issues using statute, case law and practice and to draft and review memoranda and opinions.
• Analyse financial statements to identify adjustments for tax computations, returns and provisions, and apply relevant tax legislation and accounting standards.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
